Stunning fall-front desk by Axel Einar Hjorth, made from mahogany with sculpted, darker wood details. Generously decorated with inlays, beautifully executed. Multiple small drawers and compartments for storage inside.
This piece was made for the 60th anniversary of Stockholm’s Association of Fine Carpenters in 1925, held at Liljevalchs Art Gallery. The association represented the most prominent master carpenters and architects, including Axel Einar Hjorth who was tied to them between 1918 and 1929. Hjorth was the lead architect for the 1925 exhibition, alongside David Nilsson.
