TEN BY TEN AT CF HILL

We were asked by CF Hill to furnish the 1st-floor exhibition rooms to give a more immersive feel to the exhibit TEN BY TEN, and to better connect the architecture and art.

About the exhibition (from CF Hill’s website):

“Ten by Ten highlights the greatest, most unexpected leaps in art history by selecting ten works from different eras and bringing them together. The objective is in part to have the audience experience the impact of a small selection of works that have all done their part to shake up the art world a little, and in part to have the works themselves enter into a dialogue with one another; play off of and play to one another, play nice, or play rough, and challenge the viewer.”

The featured works are by Öyvind Fahlström, Joan Míro, Ivan Aguéli, Banksy, Lena Cronqvist, Gösta Adrian Nilsson (GAN), Sam Francis, Konrad Klapheck, Ragnar Sandberg and Harvey Quaytman.

The exhibition is open from the 6th to the 28nd of November.

STIG LINDBERG’s VASE HAS BEEN TRAVELING

In September our checkered unique Stig Lindberg vase was included in the HOMO FABER Crafting a more human future exhibition in Venice, Italy. HOMO FABER 2018 was organized by the Michelangelo Foundation, a Swiss non-profit organization that holds the idea that in spite of the development of modern technologies, “human hands will always possess the unique ability to create meaningful objects, spared from standardisation and homogeneity”. HOMO FABER marks “the start of a new cultural movement aiming to celebrate and support master artisans handcrafting objects of true excellence”. Homo Faber will return for its second edition in 2020.

Our vase was included as the only Swedish piece in the part of the exhibition called Centuries of shape, which is described as follows:

“Discover some fifty iconic vases representing the evolution of design and its impact on craftsmanship over more than a century. Simple and functional, the vase is an object that has been made and used in many different cultures for millennia. As a result, it’s like an archaeological find, revealing the design styles, materials, techniques and artistic experimentation of the time in which it was made. This carefully curated selection of vases tells the story of European design and craftsmanship during the 20th and 21st centuries, showing how designers and artisans have always influenced each other to experiment, rethink and evolve.”

DESIGN FOR A LIFETIME!

When King Magazine featured an article about the design classics of tomorrow, their pick was a bit different from what one often expects to see. Their selection is intended to give design investment guidance and brings forward pieces that are not as widely known as other midcentury modern classics. We agree with them that stoneware is a great investment and are happy that our Stig Lindberg vases were chosen to feature this section.

PARTY IN OUR SHOWROOM!

We are so happy about our space on Danderydsgatan 26 in Stockholm and we would love to show it to you! On Thursday 24th of May we invite you to an evening of wine, design talk and browsing. Party starts at 17.00 / 5 PM, we hope to see you there!

HOME SWEET HOME

We are delighted to have our home featured in the last issue of Gods & Gårdar magazine. It gives a peek inside our living room, whose interior well reflects the spirit of NORDLINGS. The furniture is by Kerstin Hörlin-Holmquist, Josef Frank, Hans Bergström, Hans J. Wegner and others whose designs thrive in our 1960s house. Alexander is shown with an especially treasured items in his hands – an Alice Nordin bronze vase from 1903.

TELEFONPLAN APARTMENT INTERIOR

We had the pleasure of styling a friend’s 1940s apartment prior to it going on the market. We selected furniture with open silhouettes that agreed with the Funkis architecture and made the space feel bigger. The color scheme matched the exposed brick wall in the kitchen and the black and white walls, as well as the pine trees and house facades seen through the windows. Like inside and outside speaking with each other! Glass vases by Erik Höglund, a candleholder by Gunnar Ander and an Einar Lynge Ahlberg painting created splashes of color.

Sofa by Gustaf Hiort af Ornäs, lounge chair by Alf Svensson, coffee table/bench by Torbjørn Afdal, floor lamp from ASEA, mirror by Uno and Östen Kristiansson, wooden bowls by Johnny Mattsson, candlesticks by Pierre Forssell.
