Beautifully designed and crafted oak and rattan “The Chair” by Hans J. Wegner, with the solid, simple wood design contrasting wonderfully with the slender and beautifully wreathed rattan strands.
“The Chair” was designed in 1949 and became a huge success upon its launch. The model was important in advocating Danish design internationally. Its iconic status was cemented when the model was selected as seating to John F. Kennedy and Richard Nixon in the first ever televised election debate in 1960.
