Enchanting ceramic horse figurine, “Springare”, by Stig Lindberg. “Springare” means “Steed”. This design was executed in different sizes at Gustavsbergs Studio, this size is among the larger and rarer. The stylized horse is painted with a brown and polkadot pattern over the body.
The story goes that at the first Studio exhibition of “Springare”, a cavalry officer was present. He contemplated the horse for a long time, becoming increasingly provoked. Finally, he exclaimed: “It looks nothing like a horse – yet it is the horsiest horse I have ever seen!”.
